However, ScummVM does not officially support Riven yet, and thus it creates a few new issues - such as missing transitions and FMVs pausing when skipped. Missing animations will play, there will be no line at the top of FMVs, no double-turning of pages, and artifacting around animations will be slightly reduced. Instead, I would recommend running either version of Riven in the latest development build of ScummVM. Additionally, some animations will now be two pixels higher than they are supposed to be - so I can no longer recommend this configuration! However, there will still be a two-pixel high line at the top of FMVs from the previous loaded image. I found that it was possible to copy and replace the Data folder and "riven.cfg" file from the DVD version to the original CD version in order to reap the benefits of additional views and higher quality FMVs. Slightly higher quality FMVs (Source: ).No missing animations (Needs further testing). Here are the advantages of the two different versions (without additional software):īenefits of the GOG Galaxy DVD Version (Currently Unstable): What's interesting is that GOG actually supplies two versions of Riven, and the GOG Galaxy client version appears to be the Riven DVD (currently unstable on modern systems).

Just send a shortcut of the script to your desktop and run it as admin before playing Riven, and you should be good to go. In the interest of reducing the annoyances of double-turning pages and having to reach for the spacebar to skip FMVs, I created an AutoHotKey script which allows pages to be turned and most FMVs to be skipped with a simple Right-Click: #IfWinActive ahk_exe Riven.exe I figured I would post some of my findings on the different versions of Riven, and share an AutoHotKey script that definitely improved my overall experience with the game. I recently completed Riven for the first time and really enjoyed my experience.
